DIY Kikki.k Inspired 3 Year Journal

DIY Kikki.k Inspired 3 Year Journal - By Miss Caly

I always love the New Year as it is the perfect time to get things together, to have a fresh start and to try new things. For me, it’s like a brand new chapter in life – one to rewrite the problems of last year…

I particularly love the New Year because it’s the time for new stationery, calendars and journals!  Last year, when I was shopping for some of these things, I came across something very interesting in my favourite shop, Kikki.k. It was called an ‘A Sentence a Day’ journal. I was immediately intrigued with the idea of writing a sentence every day for three years – and being a DIY fanatic and all, I decided to make one.

It was a success. Every day, I answered one simple question (that I found on the internet) for the entire year of 2015. I must admit, some days I did forget, but overall, I’m really happy with how it turned out. I can’t believe how easy it was to make, and the fact that it only costed me $2.50 and a few hours of my time to make, rather than the $24 that it costed in the shop.

This 3 year journal is perfect for reflecting on your thoughts and seeing how they change in a matter of a few years. It’s especially great for those who can never commit to daily-journal-writing (like me!). So if you’re curious to know how to make one, read on!

Materials needed:

  • A notebook with 366 pages or more
  • A pen

Steps:

1. On the first page of my journal, I wrote a cute quote, as well as the date and a signature.

2. Now, there are two options you can take:

  • Option 1: if you’re really bothered like I was, you can go ahead and fill in every single page with the date and a question up the top of the page. Make sure they’re simple questions requiring one sentence answers, such as ‘what did you eat for breakfast today?’ or ‘what stressed you out today?’ (Feel free to make the questions up or scroll down to find a list of websites I found questions from).
  • Option 2: The websites I have attached below have set questions for each date, every month. So, throughout the year, all you have to do is find the question for the day, write it in the journal and answer it.

3. For each day of the year, write short answers to the questions. When you have completed the first year, go back to the beginning of the journal and begin answering the same questions each day for the next year. Do the same for the following year too, and see how your answers change as you grow older.

My favourite websites for questions:

Happy journalling!

With love,
